A project dear to our hearts!

Pointe-à-Callière for all is a project supported by the Pointe-à-Callière Foundation, allowing us to implement tools and training that foster Museum accessibility. In collaboration with our partners, the Association québécoise pour le loisir des personnes handicapées (AQLPH) and the Giant Steps Resource and Training Centre, we are aiming to bring Pointe-à-Callière’s accessibility and inclusion initiatives to the fore in an effort to further cultural and social participation.

Why a sensory bag?

A sensory bag is designed to provide autistic individuals or not and those accompanying them with tools to ensure a calm and pleasant visit. The included tools help focus concentration, reduce anxiety, and inspire better communication with the Museum staff.

What does the sensory bag contain?

-An explanatory sheet detailing the bag’s concept and a list of its contents
-Sensory solutions to prevent hyper-sensoriality (a soundproof headset and blackout glasses)
-Sensory toys (antistress ball, hand spinner)
-A communication board for individuals with non-verbal autism spectrum disorders (card set with pictograms). Guides will also have these cards in their possession.

This project is made possible through the support of the Pointe-à-Callière Foundation’s 2023-2024 Pointe-à-Callière for all campaign.
