Extend your exploration of the exhibition Heroes of Greece. The Age of Troy with a program that invites you to explore ancient Greece from various perspectives: history, archaeology, literature, philosophy, art, and culture.
Lectures, meetings with experts, hands-on activities, live performances, book and wine clubs, drawing workshops… A wealth of activities awaits you, allowing you to delve deeper into the stories of The Iliad and The Odyssey and discover the heroes who have captured the imagination across the centuries.
Younger visitors will also find plenty to enjoy! A tour featuring exhibition labels designed by children invites you to discover the works through their eyes.

Program details
For this series of five lectures, experts in history, archaeology, literature, and philosophy will delve into Ancient Greece’s heroes and major founding narratives. These talks will provide accessible and enriching viewpoints on these myths and their legacy throughout history.

This workshop will have participants discover and observe the works in the exhibition Heroes of Greece. The Age of Troy through the practice of drawing. Led by Jonathan Sardelis and Nathan Derome, instructors for UQAM’s Cours du Samedi art classes, this activity will let people explore different techniques, from quick sketches to work with shadows. Whether beginner artists or experienced creators, participants will enjoy exclusive access to the exhibition and get expert guidance in an intimate setting to create their personal artwork.

Mythomania is a show in which Thomas Hellman takes audiences on a dynamic musical journey into the heart of Greek mythology through the tales and legends of Ancient Greece. In a blend of narration, theatre, and music, this Quebec-based author, composer, and storyteller revisits foundational myths, from the gods of Olympus to the birth of heroes. Accompanied by multi-instrumentalist Olaf Gundel, Hellman mixes songs and original compositions with archival audio to celebrate the power of words passed down to us through the centuries. Staging by Michel Faubert.

Pointe-à-Callière is hosting a session of its book club dedicated to Ancient Greece. In tune with the exhibition, the first selection is The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller. Participants can share their thoughts during a discussion moderated by Elsa Bouchard, Professor of Greek Language and Literature at Université de Montréal. They can continue mulling over the novel in small groups over a beverage in the intimate and exclusive setting of the Museum’s Bistro L’Arrivage.

This series of three workshops invites participants to discover the wines of Greece and its islands through guided tastings. Each session will feature a selection of six wines paired with appetizers that will create a cozy, sensory experience that enhances the exhibition visit. The workshops will be led by Patrick Blondin, a passionate sommelier who has been sharing his favourite wines and cultivating culinary experiences for over 15 years.
