VISIT A FISHING VILLAGE ON THE POINTE

Saturday, March 2 to Saturday, March 9, 2024

Montréal, February 13, 2024 — Pointe-à-Callière once again takes you on an adventure on the Pointe! From Saturday, March 2 to Saturday, March 9, 2024, the Museum will be hosting two big events: an exceptional evening for the Nuit blanche à Montréal and an exciting school break in a warm and friendly atmosphere.

NUIT BLANCHE AT POINTE-À-CALLIERE

To kick off 2024’s school break week, Pointe-à-Callière is taking part in the Nuit blanche à Montréal on Saturday, March 2, from 7 pm to midnight. This evening event will showcase traditions and stories relating to the St. Lawrence River: brief performances will be presented in the Museum’s lobby, featuring artists including Aroussen Gros-Louis, a professional dancer from the Wendat nation, along with the group Brise-Glace, which performs traditional Québécois and Breton sea songs. For the occasion, the temporary exhibitions The St. Lawrence River, Echoes from the Shores and The Heart and Soul of Saint-Henri will be open to the public, free of charge.

Free activity, from 7 pm to midnight, Saturday, March 2, 2024.

AN OUTDOOR MARITIME ADVENTURE FOR SPRING BREAK

For Spring Break 2024, an original installation evoking a fishing village will be set up outdoors, in front of the Museum and on Place Royale. Open to pedestrians only during the event, the site will welcome young and old alike for an enjoyable week of activities relating to the themes of the temporary exhibition The St. Lawrence River, Echoes from the Shores and the permanent exhibition Come Aboard! Pirates or Privateers?.

  • Stories and poetry: Immerse yourself in stories of the St. Lawrence and of pirates, while exploring poems and memories inspired by the river.
  • Sports tournament, fun activities, and an agility challenge: Test your skills in a sports tournament, see if you’ve got what it takes to become a privateer, and learn about the trade of dock worker in activities presented by the Maritime Employers Association.
  • Educational activities on the biodiversity of the St. Lawrence River: Explore the river’s rich biodiversity and learn more about fishing with the GUEPE organization.
  • Strolling presentations: Meet fascinating characters Prince Iceberg and Draveur Gaffeur as they make their way around the site.
  • Guided architectural tours: Explore the architectural development of Pointe-à-Callière, Montréal’s archaeology and history complex (Duration: 1 hour — available upon reservation, in English or French).

Free outdoor activities from 11 am to 4 pm, Saturday, March 2 to Saturday, March 9, 2024.

EVEN MORE TO EXPLORE!

Several activities will be taking place indoors at the Museum, with the purchase of an admission ticket: brief guided tours of the exhibitions, creative workshops for children, and virtual reality presentations. See the daily program.

In addition to the Museum’s permanent exhibitions, including Where Montréal Began, which reopened in December, there are two temporary exhibitions to see during Spring Break at Pointe-à-Callière: this will be the public’s last chance to see the exhibition The St. Lawrence River, Echoes from the Shores, which takes visitors on a multisensory journey to the heart of this vast, multi-faceted waterway (until March 3, 2024); the new temporary exhibition The Heart and Soul of Saint-Henri immerses the public in the neighbourhood’s living history, from past to present, through encounters with the men and women who bring it to life.

Take advantage of this opportunity to further your experience as you (re)discover L’Arrivage Bistro and its magnificent view of the river.

THANK YOU TO OUR PARTNERS

Pointe-à-Callière thanks its partners associated with Spring Break on the Pointe: Québecor, the SDC du Vieux-Montréal, the Ville-Marie Borough, and the Maritime Employers Association.
