Pointe-à-Callière celebrates Montréal virtually on May 17

Bonne fête Montréal – Big live quiz!

Montréal, May 11, 2020 – To celebrate the city’s birthday on May 17, Pointe-à-Callière, the Montréal Archaeology and History Complex, in collaboration with Randolph, is holding a big quiz on the city’s history, live on Facebook. On Sunday, May 17, from 7 pm to 8 pm, Montrealers and Quebecers will be able to join friends and family—virtually—as they test their knowledge with this quiz hosted by Normand D’amour. The quiz is presented in French only.

Other Pointe-à-Callière at home initiatives
This quiz is but one of the many initiatives that the Museum has implemented during its temporary closure, making history and archaeology remotely accessible to a large number of people. Every Thursday at noon, live on Facebook, Pointe-à-Callière is presenting discussions with experts on various topics, as well as virtual guided tours of its permanent exhibitions. Several resources for families—including educational history guides, games, colouring pages, and crafts—have been made available on the Museum’s website, along with history briefs and videos on the Incas and Peru.

Changes to Pointe-à-Callière’s 2020 programming
Given the border closings and health measures currently in effect, Pointe-à-Callière has made some changes to its programming. The exhibition The Incas, Treasures of Peru, which had been enjoying great success before the Museum was obliged to close, will be extended until October 4. The exhibition It’s Circus Time!, which was to be presented this summer, has been postponed until the summer of 2021. The Museum is working on a number of health measures and special set-ups to provide a safe environment for in-person visits whenever it becomes possible to proceed with the reopening.
