1701 - The Great Peace of Montréal
In the 1701, The Great Peace of Montréal exhibition, visitors will relive the events that led to the signing of the Great Peace treaty of Montréal.
A multimedia show will present the event, complementing the majestic artwork on the same theme by Nicolas Sollogub. It describes how, on August 4, 1701, Louis-Hector de Callière, Governor of New France, and delegates from 39 Aboriginal nations succeeded in signing a treaty, the Great Peace of Montréal, here on the Pointe à Callière site. This unique event was a turning point in the history of Montréal and international diplomacy.
