As part of the La Petite Vie event presented at the Museum, Pointe-à-Callière invites you to a special talk given by the director of this iconic TV series, Pierre Séguin. Mr. Séguin will first speak about the early days of his partnership with Claude Meunier and the Avanti Ciné-Vidéo producers long before the production of this cult TV series and the context in which the series was later developed. He will then share filming anecdotes with the audience supported by exclusive footage taken during the original filming of the “La prise d’otage” (“The Hostage Taking”) episode when Lison kidnaps herself to find out how much she is worth to Rénald… And for everything you always wanted to know about La Petite Vie, Pierre Séguin will answer questions from the audience.

This lecture is intended to be warm and accessible just like the La Petite Vie event presented at Point-à-Callière!

Admission is free. To visit the La Petite Vie event, before or after the talk, museum entrance fees apply.

About Pierre Séguin You have to be truly passionate about television to succeed in conveying the magic of a major show or event through the limiting frame of a television set. There’s no doubt that this passion has always fuelled the director Pierre Séguin. How else could he have become one of the most sought-after directors in Quebec? The many awards he has collected during his prolific career are proof of his great talent. Since 1991, he has won no less than seven (7) Gémeaux Awards for best direction of various productions, making him a “TV immortal,” in addition to numerous Gémeaux and Gemini Award nominations between 1987 and 1995. He also walked away with seven (7) Felix Awards at the ADISQ Gala and a Grand Olivier at the Gala des Olivier.

Since 1983, Pierre Séguin has directed hundreds of television programs ranging from variety shows, galas, comedy specials or series, and live or recorded shows to reality shows and documentaries. He has also worked as artistic director, director, cameraman, switcher, editor and musician, which explains why television no longer holds any secrets for him. Specialized in big variety shows, Pierre Séguin has mastered the art of live recordings and has an excellent knowledge of high-definition systems and 4K format.
