Investigate with Sherlock Holmes in 19th century Montréal
Pointe-à-Callière is inviting families to enjoy a school break week filled with free cultural activities in the heart of Old Montréal. Inspired by the Sherlock Holmes: Cracking the Case exhibition, this event promises a fun experience that blends science, history, and heritage.
Transformed into the site of an ongoing investigation, the Museum’s forecourt will welcome young and old alike, encouraging them to help solve a mystery worthy of Sherlock Holmes. Indoors, film screenings, storytelling, and board games are on the program.

The Investigation
A mysterious bag is discovered, buried in the ground… Now it’s up to you to unlock the secrets of the objects within it! To solve the puzzle, participants will have to complete five interactive challenges, guided by experts.
CHALLENGE #1 – Dendrochronology
Learn how studying tree rings can help determine their age and inform archaeological and scientific research.

Winter Comfort
Warming zones will be set up with chairs and propane fire pits to keep visitors cozy. The Délice d’antan food truck will also be on site, serving hot drinks and sweet treats. Just like with the pedestrianized zone in summer, Pointe-à-Callière is giving the street back to residents for a week during the winter, with a friendly and welcoming atmosphere.
Urban Exhibition
Elementary! Exhibition – In the neighbourhood’s shop windows
See works created by participants from the Go Jeunesse and Accueil Bonneau organizations, as well as by Museum employees and visitors, in the shop windows of Old Montréal. This urban exhibition features artwork created in archival collage workshops (19th century newspapers and postcards), blending art, history, and mystery in group creations.

Thanks to interactive 3D modeling, you can explore the corridors and rooms of this iconic building, learning about its architecture, key events, and secrets.
