Understand Egypt’s ancient civilization

With its three thousand years of history, ancient Egyptian civilization continues to fascinate the world. And we haven’t even come close to discovering all its secrets!

At this first lecture for the exhibition Egypt. Three Millennia on the Nile, Egyptologist and historian Perrine Poiron will tell us what recent discoveries have revealed about this brilliant and complex society.

Why and how did Egyptian society develop along the majestic Nile River? How was it organized around the pharaoh’s power? Who were the key figures in this intensely hierarchical society and what were their roles? What was daily life like for the Egyptian people? This fascinating introduction will give you new keys to understanding the exhibition. Don’t miss it!

Lecturer: Perrine Poiron
Doctor of Egyptology and History at the Sorbonne University and Université du Québec à Montréal and a member of the exhibition’s Scientific Committee.
