A holiday journey around the world at Pointe-à-Callière

The Museum’s family-friendly activities will whisk you away!

Montréal, December 11, 2019 – During the holiday season, from December 14 to January 5, there are a number of activities taking place at Pointe-à-Callière, letting families have some fun while learning about various cultures!

Who Is the Real Santa Claus?
December 14, 15, 21, 22, 24, and 26 to 31, 2019
In December, Pointe-à-Callière is taking you on a delightful world tour of holiday traditions! While visiting the Museum’s archaeological remains, children will meet various Christmas characters—Befana, Saint Nicolas, Little Lucy, and our own famous Santa Claus—who will each explain how they celebrate the holidays in their homelands. As part of the activity, children will be invited to take part in a fun creative workshop during which they will get to make their very own Santa Claus. A wonderful activity to put you in the holiday spirit! Great fun for families and children of ages 4 to 9. The complete tour schedule is available online and the activity is included in the price of admission to the Museum.

The Holidays under the Peruvian sun
January 2 to 5, 2020
To coincide with its exhibition The Incas, Treasures of Peru, Pointe-à-Callière is organizing a variety of activities just after the holidays, giving families the opportunity to explore the many facets of Inca culture, under the Peruvian sun—right here in Old Montréal! Every afternoon, come create a work of art inspired by pre-Columbian and Inca civilizations. A different artistic technique will be in the spotlight each day: learn how to weave, build a statuette, make an Inca mask, and create a khipu—a rather unique Inca innovation. A great way for young and old alike to explore the artistic riches of Peru.

You can also take a break in the reading and movie corner, snuggling up with several children’s books and comics or enjoying the entire first season of the series The Mysterious Cities of Gold! Of course, the whole family is welcome to visit the current exhibition, and children can use their free activity booklet to explore at their own pace, while having fun!
