Publication - Queens of Egypt
Their names were Ahmose-Nefertari, Hatshepsut, Tiye, Nefertiti, Isetnofret and Nefertari. They were queens of Egypt - one even became pharaoh - in the New Kingdom (1539-1076 BCE. Yet their places in history remain discreet. The fame of Ramesses II of Abu Simbel and the young Tutankhamun, whose tomb was found laden with treasures, left these women and their exceptional destinies in the shadows.
As you turn the pages of this special issue on the exhibition, you will wander in places where you once might have crossed the path of these mighty women rulers.
A souvenir edition of the exhibition Queens of Egypt, presented at Pointe-à-Callière in 2018. Available in French and English.
