Montréal, Metropolis and… Capital

Few people know that Montréal's status changed in 1843 while it was the economic capital of the country. This display presents the history of the Parliament of United Canada, a site which bore witness to significant transformations in Canadian politics, at the time when Montréal was its capital. Montréal was the birthplace of modern Canada and its parliament was a witness to this historic moment.
