Pointe-à-Callière and les Belles Soirées et les après-midis de l’UdeM are presenting Mettre en valeur le lieu de naissance de Montréal : défis et réalisations pour le 375ème anniversaire, a conference presented in French.

During this year when Montréal celebrates 375 years of existence, an unusual project was born on May 17, day of the foundation in 1642: the inauguration of a pavilion where are revealed to the public for the very first time, the remains of Fort Ville-Marie after 15 years of archeaological research. This audacious project combines the conservation objectives of a delicate site with its exhibition by means of innovatve techniques. Visitors will also discover a Montréal urban heritage treasure in the first collector sewer of the city, restored and light up.

Louise Pothier is conservator and archaeologist in chief at Pointe-à-Callière, Montréal Archaeology and History Complex. She is the coordinator of archaeology for the expansion of the Museum and she is the director of the collection Archéologie du Québec, published at Les Édition de l'Homme.
