Les Samedis de l'histoire

Through a partnership with the Société historique de Montréal, we are presenting The 150^th anniversary of the 1867 constitution (in French) as part of our Samedis de l'histoire lecture series.

Gilles Laporte is a historian, a professor at the cégep du Vieux Montréal, and a noted lecturer. He is the author of many books including Brève histoire des patriotes (Septentrion, 2015), Fondements historiques du Québec contemporain, un manuel d'enseignement (Chenelière éducation, 2013), and Je ne me souviens plus : l'état désastreux de l'enseignement de l'histoire nationale dans le réseau collégial public du Québec ( Fondation Lionel-Groulx, 2010). He is currently the spokesperson for the Coalition pour l'histoire. Laporte's presentation will touch upon the quesitons raised by this anniversary and will feature a conversation with Robert Comeau, host of Histoire , a show broadcast on RVM.
