Becoming Chief Detective in Montréal, Carpenter played a key role in changing attitudes in police practices. His intelligence, composure, and profound knowledge of the criminal underworld were frequently praised in the newspapers of the time. Laurent Busseau

Historian, consultant, and lecturer Laurent Busseau holds a master’s degree in history and a certificate in journalism from the Université de Montréal. Since 2010, he has worked as a cultural heritage consultant in the Eastern Townships, while also writing about some of Québec’s lesser-known stories. Drawing on his expertise in historical research, Laurent Busseau also writes about history and lectures for cultural institutions and various public organizations, under the banner of Historien sans Frontière (Historian Without Borders).
