As part of Olmecs and the Civilizations of the Gulf of Mexico, this lecture will give an overview of the exhibition’s major themes.

Learn more about the Olmecs, an ingenious culture deeply connected to nature, and the foundations of their civilization along with their beliefs and technological and artistic achievements. The lecture will also cover the Olmecs’ remarkable legacy that they spread to other civilizations in the Gulf of Mexico.

Victor Pimentel

An archaeologist specializing in ancient American civilizations and the former curator of pre-Columbian art at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, Victor Pimentel has been involved in many museum projects over the years, from archaeological research and collection studies to exhibitions and documentaries for television and other platforms. He is also a member of the scientific committee for the exhibition Olmecs and the Civilizations of the Gulf of Mexico.
