Meet a pioneer in the field of history and culture in Québec

Immerse yourself in the world of Marie-Claire Daveluy (1880-1968), a historian and woman of letters who left an indelible mark on her era. The first secular female historian in French-speaking Quebec, this daring Montrealer opened doors for women in the world of historical research, a field that was still reserved for men at the time.

The author of the children’s literary work Les Aventures de Perrine et de Charlot, a visionary librarian, and a fervent defender of women’s contribution to national history, she was able to combine intellectual rigor, feminist commitment, and patriotism. Her writings—particularly on Ville-Marie society and on Jeanne Mance—continue to inspire with their depth and their modern perspective.

A lifetime of cultural heritage and progress to explore!
