A not-to-be-missed event in Old Montréal on the occasion of Montréal’s 375th anniversary, Encounters in New France is a unique experience for those looking to have some fun at a festive springtime market!
Learn what daily life was like in the city under the French regime, meet characters that played a part in our history, and admire the know-how of the First Nations. The whole family will enjoy listening to strolling musicians and spending some time with the craftspeople and street performers at the heart of this huge celebratory happening!

Friday, May 19: 4 pm to 7 pm
Saturday, May 20: 11 am to 7 pm
Sunday, May 21: 11 am to 7 pm
Monday, May 22: 11 am to 6 pm

- 4 to 5 pm: Come see a parade organised by the Society for the Celebration of Montréal's 375th Anniversary. A "giant" surprise might be awaiting you! (At the Place Royale)
- 4 to 7 pm: Experience the grand opening of the "Auberge", with food and drink service. (At the place d’Youville, between Place Royale and Saint-François-Xavier)
- 5 to 7 pm: Come be enchanted by the Buffalo Hat Singers' chants, by First Nations dances performed by Ivanie Aubin-Malo, and by the "Légendes d'un peuple" by Alexandre Belliard, during the official inaugural show.
