As part of Archaeology Month and coinciding with the temporary exhibition Olmecs and the Civilizations of the Gulf of Mexico, Pointe-à-Callière is presenting a round table discussion on the discovery of corn and its importance, from an archaeological and historical perspective, in the Haudenosaunee and Olmec nations.

Explore the origins of corn and its route across America through various archaeological sites and discoveries. You’ll also hear about the importance and symbolism of the Three Sisters, in agriculture, among Indigenous communities throughout America. Learn more about this well-known and ever-so important plant!

It's a date!

Panelists: Christian Gates Saint-Pierre, Archaeologist and Professor at the Université de Montréal, Lysanne O'Bomsawin, chef and historical popularizer and “seedsaver” Steven McComber, a guardian of traditional Iroquois grains.

Moderator: Hendrik Van Gijseghem, PhD, Archaeology and History Project Manager, Pointe-à-Callière.

This activity is being held as part of Archaeology Month.
