Pointe-à-Callière Foundation

Who are we?

Mission
The Pointe-à-Callière Foundation, created in 1993, is a charitable organization intended to foster a sense of identification with the Museum’s mission and to bring together the resources needed to support the Museum’s activities aimed at conserving and sharing our collective heritage and educating the public.

Through the financial assistance it provides, the Foundation contributes to research, helps to preserve archaeological remains and supports collections development. It also helps to produce exhibitions and supports the development of cultural and of educational activities for young people.

The Foundation organizes fundraising activities, solicits and receives donations and bequests to the Museum, and oversees the development and activities of the Friends and volunteers of Pointe-à-Callière.

The Foundation publishes a quarterly newsletter for Friends, The Recruit.

Concrete achievements

Since it was founded, the Foundation has helped the Museum carry out a number of major development projects. For example:

  • Safeguarding and developing Montréal’s first Catholic cemetery;
  • Creating school programs;
  • Renewing the multimedia show on the history of Montréal;
  • Creating the Archaeological Field School;
  • Acquiring and developing the Youville Pumping Station;
  • Acquiring the Mariners House.
