Jacques Parisien new Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Société du Musée
Pointe-à-Callière, the Montréal Museum of Archaeology and
History, is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Jacques Parisien
as Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Société du Musée. Executive
Vice-President and Chief Operating Officer of Astral, and President of
Astral Radio, Mr. Parisien had until today been Vice-Chair of the
Société’s board. He thus succeeds Ms. Sophie Brochu, President and CEO
of Gaz Métro, who held the position for four years, and to whom the
Museum would like to extend its most sincere thanks for all the work
accomplished during her tenure.
An independent non-profit
corporation, the Société du Musée d’archéologie et d’histoire de
Montréal, Pointe-à-Callière ensures compliance with the organization’s
mission and oversees the management of the Museum. Its board, made up of
fifteen members representing various Montréal communities and the City
of Montréal, is responsible for deciding on the institution’s general
orientation and policies.
Mr. Parisien takes up his post as the
Museum continues the celebration of its 20th anniversary with a program
of activities and events taking place all year long. The Museum also
began a major expansion project last year, Phase 1 of which includes the
renovation of the Mariners’ House, scheduled to officially open a few
months from now. A longer term Museum project, planned for 2017, is the
creation of the Montréal Archaeology and History Complex, an
international calibre cultural complex consisting of nine sites in Old
Montréal.
