Welcome to the Museum!

You can look forward to a warm welcome at Pointe-à-Callière when you invite your guests to our unique and enchanting historic site right next to the Old Port of Montréal. Treat your employees, partners, clients or members of your professional corporation to a reception at the very birthplace of Montréal.

Press conferences, launches, reunions, cocktail parties, convention opening ceremonies, award ceremonies, annual meetings, gourmet meals and business breakfasts... there's no end to all the events you can organize at Pointe-à-Callière. It's sure to go down in the history of your organization!

The Museum has several different buildings in which private events can be hosted:

  • The Éperon, the main building
  • The Mariner’s House
  • The Youville Pumping Station

L’Arrivage Restaurant at Pointe-à-Callière can provide catering services for all events held in rental spaces at the Museum.

The Éperon, Main building

The entrance to the Museum, the Éperon building, located at 350 place Royale is an inspiring piece of architecture, rising from the foundations of its predecessor—the Royal Insurance Company Building. Like that earlier edifice, the Éperon is triangular in shape and boasts a tower that looks out over the Port of Montréal. The Éperon houses the lobby, the Hydro-Québec Multimedia Room, a temporary exhibition hall, a restaurant and, in the basement, part of the permanent exhibition Where Montréal Was Born.

Éperon – Hydro-Québec Multimedia Theater

This newly updated room, outfitted with cutting edge audio and video equipment, is available for lectures and presentations. The retractable stage appears to float above the archaeological remains, surrounded by an immersive 270-degree screen that offers a multitude of possibilities for presentations or to create specific moods. A unique environment for an unforgettable event. Availability: outside normal Museum hours, depending of the season.

Corporate presentations, projections (Betacam, VHS, SVHS, DVD, HDTV), lectures or other special events.

Capacity

190, in two balconies. Seating for 90 in the first balcony and 48 in the second.

Éperon – Lobby

The Museum’s main room, the most spacious and certainly the most impressive, the lobby of the Éperon building is the perfect setting for prestigious events, offering visitors several views of the architectural remains of the Royal Insurance Company Building below them.

The room is triangular, on two levels. It includes a podium for special guests or speakers. In the background, a spectacular work of art by Peter Krausz adorns the huge doors to the amphitheatre where the multimedia show is presented. Restricted availability. Please see fact sheet.

Éperon – Multipurpose Room

This rectangular room, looking out on the Old Port promenade, is suited to all kinds of activities. One side is entirely glassed in, so that it overlooks the lobby. Availability: everyday from 8 am to 5 pm.

Meetings, workshops, seminars, annual meetings, lectures, symposia, etc.

Éperon – Café-Restaurant

Bathed in light, the room offers an exceptional view over the Old Port, the St. Lawrence, its islands and Montréal's most impressive bridges. Sliding glass doors open onto an inviting terrace in the summer, for a special view of the fireworks at La Ronde in June, July and August. Availability: everyday from 8:30 am to 10 am and after 5:15 pm or 6:15 pm in July and August.

Mariners' House – National Bank Building

The Mariners' House – National Bank Building faces the Museum’s main entrance, at 165 Place D'Youville, on the corner of Place d’Youville and Place Royale, in a unique and enchanting historic setting—the birthplace of Montréal. The site, rooted in history, is the perfect spot for business meetings, lectures, client meetings, launches, celebrations or prestige events like galas or wedding receptions. Wireless Internet access is available in all rooms, and sound equipment and projectors can be provided according to client requests.

The Mariners' House – Admiral Room

The Admiral Room, located on the 2nd level, is the ideal meeting room, with a huge, high quality table, comfortable chairs, and a full range of equipment for presentations: computer, DVD/Blu-Ray player, screen, wireless Internet access, sound system and microphone for the presenter or speaker. A pleasant corporate atmosphere conducive to dialogue and discussion. Availability: everyday from 8 am to 5 pm.

The Mariners' House – Azure Room

With its large windows, the Azure Room is an incomparable space in which to hold a wide variety of events. Located on the 3rd level, enjoying a remarkable view of the Old Port and exceptional natural light, this space offers unparalleled ambience. Highly versatile, the room can be set up according to client needs, and can even be rented together with the adjacent Members’ Room, at an additional cost. Availability: everyday from 8 am to 11:30 pm.

The Mariners' House – Lobby

The very easy-to-access lobby enjoys great natural light and is an ideal space for a wide range of events. The monumental staircase adjacent to the space, with its design emphasizing transparency, makes for a modern and friendly atmosphere. A work of art created especially for the Mariners’ House by Montréal artist Nicolas Baier, a photographic mural entitled Vanitas_03, and the frescoe designed by Moment Factory adds adds a touch of splendour to events being held in the space. The Mariners’ House – Partners’ Room

The Partners’ Room, on the 2nd level, is a comfortable and intimate meeting room with a conference table, comfortable chairs, and a full range of equipment for presentations: computer, DVD/Blu-Ray player, screen, wireless Internet access, sound system and microphone for the presenter or speaker. Availability: everyday from 8 am to 17 pm.

Mariners’ House – Montréal 360° Space

The Montréal 360° Space, a glass-walled room on the roof of the building with an adjacent terrace, is one of the most spectacular rooms in Montréal: it offers an unobstructed view of Old Montréal, the majestic St. Lawrence River, the Old Port, and downtown Montréal. A unique space that sets the standard for prestige events in Montréal. Satisfaction guaranteed! Availability: everyday from 8 am to 11:30 pm.

Youville Pumping Station

Located just across from the Museum, at 173 Place d'Youville. As Montréal's first fully electrified wastewater pumping station, the Scottish brick building, dating back to 1915, is a key part of the city's industrial heritage. The pumping and water-level control equipment can still be clearly seen in the underground portion of the building, extending two storeys below ground level. Guided tours of this part of the building are available at an additional charge. The warm colours, the sunlight flooding through the superb arched windows and the monumental pumps are sure to captivate your guests – especially anyone who enjoys the humming of powerful motors and the “industrial” look. Availability: everyday from 8:30 am to 9 pm.
