Pointe-à-Callière Receives an International Prize for Its Yours Truly, Montréal Website

2012-12-10

Pointe-à-Callière has won the gold medal in the Multimedia category for its Yours Truly, Montréal website at the International Audiovisual Festival on Museums and Heritage (FIAMP 2012). The competition recognizing the finest museum productions in various categories was held as part of the International Committee for Audiovisual and New Technologies of Image and Sound (AVICOM) conference, held in Montréal from October 9 to 12 this year.

The jury praised the esthetic and graphic qualities, the original timeline navigation architecture and the exhaustive content of the Yours Truly, Montréal website, and how they set it apart from the other international competitors.

The site was created in conjunction with the Yours Truly, Montréal multimedia show screened for all Museum visitors. It was produced by Pointe-à-Callière in collaboration with the Montréal agency Sid Lee, and uses images developed for the multimedia show by the Montréal firm Moment Factory. The content was written and validated by highly reputed historians.

The site is a true tribute to the metropolis, as well as a tool for better understanding and appreciating Montréal. It includes two aspects: an informative component, which traces great moments in the history of Montréal, from the Ice Age to the present day, and a game component, which plunges users into the very heart of Montréal history and archaeology with 13 interactive challenges.

The Website joins the Museum’s already rich offerings in terms of exhibitions and virtual games accessible via the Game zone of its website. These games, valuable tools for teaching history and archaeology, revolve around themes linked to the history and archaeology of Montréal.

The yourstrulymontreal.com website was made possible thanks to financial support from the City of Montréal and the Ministère de la Culture, des Communications et de la Condition féminine under the Agreement on the cultural development of Montréal, the Ministère des Affaires municipales, Régions et Occupation du territoire du Québec, Canadian Heritage, Hydro-Québec and the Pointe-à-Callière Foundation.
